When to visit the Maldives, month by month
A practical month-by-month guide that doesn't hide the rainy season.
The Maldives has two seasons: the dry northeast monsoon (December to April) and the wet southwest monsoon (May to November). Brochures stop there. The real picture is more textured.
December–February is the postcard window — flat water, clear visibility, packed resorts, peak prices. March–April keeps the calm but adds heat. May–July is when the plankton blooms feed Hanifaru's mantas; you get more rain but better marine life. August–November rotates between brief squalls and brilliant sunshine, and prices drop 30–40%.
